The Reed Flute Cave is a natural cave carved out of the karst limestone mountains over millions of years, and has been one of Guilin’s most famous attractions for over 1200 years. The cave got its name from the verdant reeds growing outside, which can be made into melodious flutes. Inside this water-eroded cave is a spectacular world of various stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars and rock formations created by carbonate deposition and illuminated by multi-colored lighting to create a surreal experience.

240-meter-long cave is lined with interesting rock shapes and formations resembling all kinds of strange things. Many of the formations have taken on recognizable shapes of mythological creatures, or natural images. There are formations that look like vegetables and one even looks like the Statue of Liberty.

In winters the fields of lapland (Finland), it is common to find such frozen jungles. The plants and trees and the vegetation in the jungles are beautifully frozen as if you are in an alien land.

This is a common feature in the Arctic circle area. The temperature  remains between-40  to -15 centigrade and  one can see such beautiful frozen land sights. Monza, Italy-based photographer Niccoló Bonfadini was the first to record and see these strange figured trees clad in ice and captured them.

The Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is one of the most awe-inspiring tours you can take any where in the world. It is quite possibly the most visited tour destination in the country. Over 60,000 tourists arrive each year. Use the links at the top and bottom of this page to learn more about this cold but beautiful desert and surrounding tourist attractions.
When I was growing up in we used to go to Uyuni to the hot springs near Laguna Polque and two others: Laguna Verde is a bright turquoise color and Laguna Colorada is a deep rusty red. The colors are created by algae and minerals found here.
